If you want to offer video tutorials, give a lecture or direct question and answer sessions on your website, a webinar is the perfect alternative to live chat and written content. Video is becoming an increasingly important aspect of the modern blogging experience and live visual media can really boost your number of visitors.
If you are going to host any type of live broadcast on your WordPress website , the best solution is Google Hangout. This free feature of Google+ is powerful, easy to use and can be added to your WordPress website as easily as embedding a YouTube video .
Create a Hangout
In the pop-up screen, you will be asked to enter a name and description for your Hangout and to decide whether to start now or later. Since the purpose of this tutorial is to set up a live webinar on your WordPress website, you will have to select Later and enter the date and time at which the webinar will begin, as well as the duration.
By default Google+ will set your Audience to Public – this will make it available to everyone. If instead you want the webinar to be for a private audience, remove the Audience from the Audience field and tag the appropriate people or circles.
When you have configured the settings, click on the green Share button . If you have not already done so, Google+ can ask you to verify your YouTube account below.
Back on the Hangouts page, you will be provided with the details about your next webinar. In this section, click on the Links icon and copy the URL of the YouTube page – this will be used to embed the video on your website.
Embed a Hangout in WordPress
To host a webinar on your WordPress website, you will need to embed the code copied from YouTube into an entry or page.
From your WordPress control panel, create a new Entry or Page or edit an existing one for your Google Hangout. The next thing you have to do is paste your link to the YouTube page on your own publisher line and click on Publish (or Update if you’re editing an existing entry or page). Your webinar – complete with the countdown clock – will now appear on the page and will be hosted through the YouTube live video feature.
All you have left to do now is to promote your webinar through social networks and provide a link for visitors to connect.
